The Note for the Intensive lecture「Information Processing and Basic Statistics」

Dear all Students who registered Information Processing and/or Basic Statistics,

Please read the following note carefully regarding the class “Information Processing and/or Basic Statistics” .

These courses are to be given face to face at 712 satellite laboratory.
If you want to take Information Processing and/or Basic Statistics remotely, please prepare the required equipment as follows.

Required equipment

I) PC for student work

*One PC is required. It doesn’t have to be connected to the internet.
*MS-Office must be installed.

*Lecture content is based on Windows PC. For Mac, use at your own risk.
*Either desktop or notebook, as long as you use a mouse, is OK.

II) Monitor to see the work of the instructor. You have three choices, 1, 2 or 3 below.

1. Prepare a PC or tablet terminal different from the above PC *This must be connected to the internet.
*Generally, smartphones cannot be used because the screen is small.

2A. Add a monitor to the above PC No.I.
*Use the additional monitor in “extended mode.”
*However, in this case, it is essential that the above PC is connected to the Internet.

2B. Connect the TV to the above PC by cable *Use the TV instead of the additional monitor and use it in the extended mode *Possible if the TV has a VGA terminal or HDMI terminal. (Use the particular cable.) *Switch the input on the TV side from terrestrial digital to external input.
*In this case as well, it is essential that the above PC is connected to the Internet.

3. If you want to use your smartphone, use the TV.

3A. Connect smartphone and TV by cable.
*For Android smartphones, connect the smartphone side by USB type-C and the TV side by HDMI.
*Input the smartphone images externally to the TV. Similar work for iPhone.
*Use the particular cable.
*Switch the input on the TV side from terrestrial digital to external input.

3B. Connect smartphone and TV by Wi-Fi.
*Download the mirroring application to your PC and use the mirroring function of your smartphone *Mirror the smartphone screen to the TV.
In this case, it is necessary that the TV is connected to the same Wi-Fi as the smartphone.
