Caution Notice to Students: Current Situation in the Middle East

【Notice to Students: Current Situation in the Middle East】

Tensions in the Middle East have been rapidly escalating, and many countries in the region have raised their danger levels. In addition, due to military conflicts and airspace restrictions, flights transiting through the Middle East have experienced a series of cancellations and significant delays, creating a highly uncertain operational situation. (Please note that exclusions may apply under overseas travel insurance as well.)

Nagoya University, in principle, does not permit travel to countries and regions designated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as Level 2 or higher. Please make sure to check the latest safety information and refrain from any unnecessary travel.

In particular, flights transiting major Middle Eastern hub airports—such as Doha, Dubai, and Abu Dhabi—are heavily affected and may face sudden cancellations. If you plan to travel to Europe or other destinations, please consider using alternative routes that do not pass through the Middle East.

Students planning to travel abroad must:

  • Carefully check the transit points of their flight tickets; and
  • Regularly verify the latest operational status from their airline or travel agency.

All travelers are also required to register in the Nagoya University Overseas Travel Database. This is extremely important to ensure an effective emergency contact system.

When necessary, please consult thoroughly with your academic advisor and family, and make safety your highest priority. The situation may change rapidly, so do not neglect gathering the latest information and act with caution.
