| March, 1990 | The Working Committee submitted a proposal to establish the Graduate School of International Development (GSID), consisting of programs in International Development, International Cooperation Studies, and International Communication. |
| April, 1991 | The Graduate School of International Development was instituted as the ninth graduate school at Nagoya University. The Master’s Program in International Development was established. |

| April, 2017 | The Department of International Communication was integrated into the Graduate School of Humanities. The graduate school consists of the Department of International Development and the Department of International Cooperation Studies. |
